In the HMEPS 2026 Trustee Election, Tameka Hardison was elected to Active Employee Trustee Position 5, and Roderick J. Newman was elected to Retiree Trustee Position 8.
For Active Employee Trustee Position 6, four candidates were on the election ballot. The election closed on August 21, 2026, and no candidate received a majority of votes. Under the rules governing trustee elections for HMEPS, if no candidate receives a majority (over 50%) of the total votes cast in the race, the Board declares a runoff election. At the August 27, 2026 meeting, the Board of Trustees declared a runoff election between the two candidates who received the highest and second highest numbers of votes, which are William F. Bryant Jr. and Joanne Tran.
Runoff election ballots for Position 6 will be mailed to eligible voters the week of September 21, 2026. The voting deadline is October 16, 2026 at 5 p.m. (Central). Mailed ballots must be received by October 16, 2026. In order to receive a ballot as an eligible voter, you must have been an active employee as of May 29, 2026 and had your correct address on file.
